Objectives of the Department (History and Heritage Studies)

1. To provide students and the public with knowledge and relevant skills of interpreting man,s
activities both in the past and contemporary period.
2. To promote nationhood and patriotism among the learners through the study of past human
actions.
3. To develop a sense of awareness of cultural divisity and the need to tolerate other people,s
cultures for societal harmony.
4. To provide appropriate training and skills in evidence based research for historical studies for
informing policy.
5. To inculcate among the students individualized academic and personal character for the
promotion of inclusivity, societal appreciation and empathy.
