School of Education & Human Resource Development
(SEDHURED) is the founding school of Kisii University. Originally it was part
of Egerton University, with a single programme (Post Graduate Diploma in
Education) which started in 1995. The school has grown in leaps and bounds to
its current enrolment of over 10,000 students.
The School is embracing and influencing the changing
trends in the Education sector of Kenya and the globe, generally. We train
manpower for the new CBC curriculum and endeavour to be pacesetters in the
Education sector, by embracing technology, new innovative methods of teaching
E-learning and Teaching with an aim of producing global citizenry.
The school has identified the special place of
people living with disabilities and endeavours to make Special Needs Education
a niche area of specialization. In this regard we are developing curricula in
the three areas of Special Needs Education namely; Sight, Hearing and Mental.
The curricular are at Masters, Bachelors, Diploma and Certificate levels.
The school Postgraduate section has also made huge strides.
The School has Masters and PhD programmes in all the Departments with
Curriculum approved by the Commission for University Education (CUE). Even with
specializations within departments.
