3. Biography: Maurine Songa is a pure mathematician with expertise in the utility of category theory to systems biology, automata, computer science and quantum physics. She champions the advocacy for women in mathematics through platforms such as Femafricmaths, Hermathsstory and “Words that Count.” Her major interest is in training, mentoring, and supervising the next generation of Kenyan category theorists and algebraists.
