Biography:
Evans Obwocha Obare is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience and is actively involved in various organizations, including the Environment Institute of Kenya, the National Environment Management Authority, and the Kenya Institute of Management. A life member and Vice Chairman of the Kenya Red Cross Society (Uasin Gishu County), he is committed to volunteer work. Evans lectures in health sciences programs, teaching courses such as Health Economics, Primary Health Care, Biostatistics, and Community Development. His expertise spans healthcare financing, epidemiology, and project planning, making significant contributions to education and community empowerment. He is the Chairman of Department for Community Health and Behavioral Sciences.
Academic Qualifications:
Evans Obwocha Obare holds a Bachelor of Education in Economics and Mathematics from Moi University and a Master of Public Health in Health Economics and Health Management from Moi University, completed in 2009. His master’s thesis examined the effects of HIV/AIDS on sugarcane farmers in Nyando, Kisumu County. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Public Health at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, focusing on the utilization of Social Health Insurance (SHI) for healthcare services among small-scale tea farmers in Manga Sub-County, Nyamira County, Kenya
Research Interests:
Evans Obwocha Obare is a seasoned academic and health professional with over 25 years of experience. He has a keen research interest in strengthening health systems, reproductive health, healthcare financing, primary health care, social health insurance, non-communicable and communicable diseases, and evaluating HIV/AIDS and community-based programs. Evans has submitted external grant proposals to organizations such as the National Research Fund (NRF), THET in the UK, Micro Research in Canada, and Kisii University internal grants. His dedication to advancing healthcare research and education is reflected in his extensive teaching and contributions to health sciences.
