Mandate:
The community outreach committee is mandated to organize, plan and execute activities meant to unite members of SASS with the members of the catchment communities
To be the guiding body in SASS in as far as community outreach activities are concerned
To liaise with other stakeholders on behalf of SASS in order to accomplish community outreach activities
Objectives:
To market the University and the School of Arts and Social Sciences within the community
To encourage the differently abled in the community to appreciate their conditions
To visit schools and talk to future students/clients on the benefits of joining Kisii University
To contribute to the hygienic conditions within the community
To be part of the solutions to issues of climate change

Brief Background
The School of Arts and Social Sciences has in the past been engaged in community outreach programs.
Activities already accomplished in the previous academic years:
A visit to a special school in Nyanchwa, Kisii.
Book donations to Sengera Girls High School, Kisii
Sensitization of the community on mental health.
Donation of sanitary towels to Nyaura Primary School, Kisii.

Visitations to orphanages and schools for the blind
Rubbish collection
Tree planting
Books donation
Hygiene training and jigger campaigns
Talks to street children, schools and the aged
