Dr. Peter Gutwa Oino, Phd

Peter Gutwa Oino is a senior lecturer and Dean, in the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Department of Sociology, Gender and Development Studies in Kisii University and doubles up as Ag. Director, Centre for Conflict Transformation and Peace initiatives (CTTPI). He holds a PhD in Anthropology (2017-Moi University); MA in Sociology (2013-Community Development & Project Management option-Egerton University). PGD in Project Management (2010-KIMS); and BA (2008) from Moi University. He is a researcher, ProgrammeDevelopment Management specialist and lecturer with 10 years working experience at local and national development organizations and university level. As a researcher, he has been awarded over 10 research grants (both individual and collaborative) on various thematic fields such as food security, culture, leadership learning and development, Rural-Urban mobility for livelihoods, Morality and Wellbeing, Climate Change and livelihoods, and Gender and disability and Covid-19. He has extensive knowledge in Participatory mixed research and published widely. As a consultant, he has consulted for County governments, National and International Non-governmental organizations. On community work and Extension, he is the founder of Genesis of Development Foundation (2012) and Elevate, Livelihood, Peace and Advocacy (2019) national NGOs working to improve the lives of vulnerable populations in Kenya. He is a patron of 5 Community Based Organizations implementing interventions supporting various groups of vulnerable populations across Kenya. Above all, he has a high level of veracity and integrates well in a multicultural environment.
