The Agronomic and Nutritional Evaluation of Napier grass, Bracharia, and Boma Rhodes in Trans Nzoia County, Kenya
Lead Researcher: Prof. Evans Basweti, PhD
Led by Prof. Evans Basweti of Kisii University's School of Agriculture
and Natural Resource Management, this two-year project aims to evaluate the
agronomic performance and nutritional value of Napier grass, Bracharia, and
Boma Rhodes as forages for dairy production in Trans Nzoia County, Kenya. With
the decreasing farm sizes due to growing human populations and limited knowledge
about the nutritional benefits of these forages, the research seeks to provide
critical information on their production and energy content. The findings aim
to support dairy farmers by enhancing forage options and improving the
nutritional quality of feed for dairy cattle.
