Rural Leadership Training Project
Lead Researcher: Prof. Anakalo Shitandi, PhD
This project, funded by a $30,000 grant from the University of Minnesota
Extension for the FY 2025 to 2026, is focused on training community leaders in
Kisii and Nyamira counties to foster rural leadership and development. The project
brings together US-based and Kenyan facilitators to develop a curriculum that
will be delivered through an outreach program. It aims to enhance leadership
skills in community-based organizations and provide long-term benefits by
creating structured, income-generating short courses for rural leaders. This
initiative will strengthen leadership in rural communities, contributing to
sustainable development.
