Building character strength: Using a phenomenological approach to explore how children 4-8 years are taught gratitude in home and school settings among indigenous Kenyan Turkana and Ethiopian Amhara
Also funded by the Templeton World Charity Foundation, this project,
running from 2024 to 2026, investigates how children aged 4-8 years are taught
gratitude in home and school settings among the Turkana in Kenya and the Amhara
in Ethiopia. The study aims to understand the methods and strategies for
teaching gratitude, how these teachings vary between home and school, and what
socialization practices influence the development of gratitude in this age
group. The project seeks to provide valuable insights for child care providers,
educators, and practitioners.
