The IAEA has launched a new research project to enhance computer security for artificial intelligence systems that may be used in the nuclear sector. The CRP on Enhancing Computer Security of Artificial Intelligence Applications for Nuclear Technologies aims to promote scientific research, international cooperation and technical exchange related to the secure implementation and operation of AI systems in the nuclear sector. It will focus on developing methodologies and frameworks to identify vulnerabilities, protection mechanisms and security controls for AI systems in nuclear technologies. The project will also develop AI-enabled security assessment tools and training frameworks to support human resources development.  

Eligibility

• The CRP is open to research organizations from all IAEA member countries.
• The IAEA encourages institutes to involve, to the extent possible, women researchers and young researchers in their proposals.

Those interested in joining the CRP must submit their proposal by email, no later than 30 November 2025, to the IAEA’s Research Contracts Administration Section, using the appropriate template on the Coordinated Research Activities web portal.
