Overview

This Department was started in 2011 under the larger department of Humanities and social sciences. In 2014, it was housed under the new department of Humanities which was curved from Humanities and social sciences. In 2018, as a result of increased enrolment of students and restructuring of the school,s academic divisions, the History Department stood on its own. In line with the vision and mission of Kisii University, the department has successfully trained and graduated a number of competent students in Bachelor,s and Master,s degrees programs. Graduates from our programs have been excelling in the world of work.

Mission
In line with the mission of Kisii University, the Department of History seeks to produce innovative and creative graduates in historical research and problem-solving approach in service delivery to humanity both locally and internationally.
