Dr. Rose Otieno holds a Doctor of philosophy degree in Clinical Psychology from Daystar University, Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Daystar University, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology & Counseling from the University of Nairobi and Bachelor of Education Arts from Kenyatta University. Dr. Rose is a lecturer in the Department of Psychology. She is the current Chair of gender mainstreaming committee in the university. She is a mental health specialist, a strong advocate of provision of mental health services as part of provision health care. She has many years of experience in research, training, consultancy and provision of mental health care, with a focus on education, gender issues, trauma, psychological screening and assessment, counseling children, youth and families as well as well as development across lifespan. She has consulted for various organizations, churches and schools on education matters, mental health issues, life skills for children and adolescents, and parental skills. Strength in in research include linking theory with practice, literature review, establishing gaps in research and qualitative data analysis.
Dr. Rose currently runs a number of community outreach programs together with her students as a form of mentorship for her undergraduate students in the area of community mental health as well as children’s and adolescents’ mental health.
