The Department of Political Science and Peace Studies was established to address national, regional  and international needs in the field of politics, public administration, Security,  Crime and Justice, Governance, Peace and Conflict within African region and beyond. The department is committed to offering essential, practical skills geared towards attaining sustainable peace, security, justice and good governance. Its core services include teaching, training, workshops and conferences through collaboration and maintaining close relationships with other institutions both locally and internationally. The department is housed in the school of Arts and Social Sciences and is currently based at Kisii main campus.
The departments mandate goes beyond lecture halls, academic oriented-learning to enrich and provide inspiration for self-development, self-discovery and capacity for life-long education. In line with the vision and mission of Kisii University, the department is focused on enhanced innovation and Research, Strategic Partnerships, Academic and Outreach programs.
