The emergence of the knowledge-based economy has highlighted the need for effective exploitation of knowledge, making knowledge management an essential area of activity in various organizations. Knowledge management (KM) is used to develop, organize, retain and utilize human and knowledge resources for organization’s success. The increased value of knowledge and the need to exploit it in day-to-day operation means that organisations have embarked on KM initiatives by creating divisions or departments to look into ways and means to apply KM in their operations. This has created a need for the training of KM professionals capable of taking the lead in the development and implementation of KM initiatives within their organizations.
Aim and Objectives
Programme Mission: to educe and transform professionals from various disciplines into the next generation of knowledge management leaders to create, enhance and exploit knowledge assets of organizations of all types, by drawing upon the fields of management, technology, and information. Upon completion of the Masters Knowledge Management programme, graduates are expected to:
4.1 The common University rules and regulations for the Masters Degree programme specified in the Kisii University statutes shall be applicable.
4.2 In addition to 4.1 above,
4.2.1 Holders of an upper second class honors degree in any field from a recognized university, or.
4.2.2 Holders of a lower second class degree in any field from a recognized university with at least two (2) years relevant work experience or
4.2.3 Holders a lower second class honors degree from a recognized university with relevant postgraduate professional qualifications.
6.1 All examinations for the KNOM programme will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations as stipulated in the Kisii university statutes
6.2 Candidates must pass the KNOM dissertation which is done individually with the help of an assigned supervisor
