This department is a combination of two sections that of Maintenance and Transport.
The Maintenance section is tasked with the responsibility of carrying out repairs, maintenance of current installations, and building/construction works.
The transport section offers transport services for Academic and Non-academic trips. We are also charged with the maintenance of all University motor vehicles. Since most of the major repair works and garage services are outsourced, the transport section is therefore responsible for inspecting the vehicles that are due for repair or service and recommend specifications that will be used by the service providers in repairing and servicing University vehicles.
The academic trips are organized by Academic Department in conjunction with Time Tabling Department; students organizing for non-academic trips (social and welfare) must apply to the Deputy VC (A, P&F) through the patron and Dean of students at least one week before the event. Transport request forms must filled by the patron, Dean of students, and Dean of any faculty. When permission is granted a full list of students on a trip must be submitted to the Dean of students and a copy to transport office.
Only registered and functional organizations must be granted permission to use University transport services. Such organizations must submit their semester programmes requiring transport to the Dean of students for proper co-ordination.
Non-academic trips students will be required to meet the cost of fuel and per diem for our drivers and mechanics. All trips of students must be accompanied by any designated University officer and students must exercise full discipline and conduct.
