Dean Faculty of Agriculture


INTRODUCTION

The Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resource Management is headed by a Dean who is the administrative and academic head.  Assisting the Dean on the day-to-day administrative matters, are Assistant Administrator and the Faculty Clerk.

The Faculty was challenged with the responsibility of launching three of the first programmes, namely; Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics, Bachelor of Agribusiness Management, and Diploma in Agriculture Education and extension. The Diploma programme succeeded in admitting and registering students a number of students.

 

MISSION

To be a centre of excellence in capacity building for agricultural development

OBJECTIVES

· Develop and disseminate scientific information through training, research and outreach.

· Offer holistic and quality education in agricultural and related sciences.

· Provide dynamic programmes that are responsive to our changing needs of society.

· Provide practical and competent graduates who can address and solve natural as well as regional challenges in agriculture and environmental sectors.

· Develop partnerships with farmers, private sector, national and international agricultural research institution in technology development and utilization for enhanced agricultural productivity and income.

 


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

DIPLOMA

The minimum entry requirement for a diploma programme is an aggregate grade of C attained at one sitting in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) with minimum of C in Mathematics, at least two sciences and in English or Kiswahili, OR a certificate from a recognised training institution with a minimum of a credit.

B.SC. DEGREE

To be admitted for a pre-service degree programme, a prospective candidate must meet all the requirements set up by the Joint Admissions Board (JAB), while a prospective in-service student must have completed a diploma programme in the relevant field and graduated with at least a CREDIT.

EXAMINATION REGULATIONS

In addition to satisfying all the Egerton University Regulations, the Faculty of Agriculture  and Natural Resource Management requires that, to graduate, a candidate MUST PASS ALL the subjects he/she is enrolled for within the required period, and abide by the Common Regulations governing the award of Diploma, Bachelor’s or Post-Graduate degree.
